Men with cyclic temporal simple partial seizures

Sat, 08/22/2015 - 00:43
Are there any other men who are experiencing cyclic seizures? My husband has auras involving extreme feelings of dread, dejavu, upset stomach, and sweating about 3 days a month. It is so regular that we can chart it on the calendar what week is going to be extremely rough. If he were a woman all the doctors would say it goes with her menstural cycle but I can't find anything on what would cause it it a man. He is completely fine for abt 4 weeks and then will have at least 4-10 aura episodes a day for about three days and then he is good until the next month. If anybody else has experienced this did they find out what caused it or find any treatments that worked, (traditional or non-traditional), as regular anti-seizure medicines do not seem to be working. All tests are completely normal.

There are times I go awhile

There are times I go awhile with no auras like a month then I may end up having around 5 auras during the day until the next day. I take alprazolam for this because it seems that it only occurrs during a day I may be depressed.

I developed these symptoms in

I developed these symptoms in my late twenties (I’m 54 now).  Episodes occurred roughly every six weeks.  I take two drugs which to some degree reduced the severity however the gap between episodes has increased since excercising regularly.  I have some concerns with the long term effects of medication but  lack any medical support for a gradual withdrawal through NHS.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I started having seizures

I started having seizures about 5 or 6 years ago. Complex partial. They are cyclical as well, but all tests come out normal. Diet has made the biggest difference for me, but being on keto for a year (and only 6 seizures!) also created a few auto-immune responses. Now I'm experimenting with different approaches to diet but making sure it is well-balanced. A no-histamine diet led to very intense seizures! Now I'm mostly eliminating gluten and any added sugar. I may revisit Keto on a cyclical basis to match my "time of the month," but taking it slow. Best wishes to all.
