Hi!

Sun, 05/17/2015 - 08:04

Glad to be here. Took the medical field 48 years to diagnose me with seizure disorder. Had maybe 5 TC's vey randomly spread out. Only one was witnessed.  The others, well I was single and only knew I was on the floor, and a few times I remember the convulsing but was in my bed, 10 seizures in the last 9 months. TC's  precede by focal seizure (aura), and my wife has caught me in a staring spell, with eyes blinking. 5 eegs , one being Veeg in the hospital show normal activity. Watching for triggers, keeping a log, wife had our dog trained to be a service dog, we noticed she was predicting seizures. We taught her to put paws on my chest, help me off the floor, and to push a big red button on the wall ( a 911 button) on command. Taking my trileptal, adding salt to my diet to keep my sodium level from dropping too low. Memory problems, difficulty finding words, occasional breakthrough seizure, usually the result of lack of awareness of triggers. 5 day Veeg cost 64K. I am done with Eegs. Did a 24 hr Eeg at home as well. Nothing. Saw an after mealtime trend. Searched the interweb and decided to drop white pasta and white bread and white rice. Switched to whole wheat.  I think it's helping. Dropped alchohol (sadly). I I have been a homemaker, working part time for 5 years. Now I am a full time stay at home dad (SAHD) I can do this, I am also a veteran. Can't work, I have medical necessity papers for the dog. Doctor says we cannot  be separated. Kinda a pain, truthfully. Oh and I tie my own flies and fly fish, but not since last season.
