Vimpat(lacosamide) and mood swings

Sun, 07/06/2014 - 20:11

Hi everybody, I'm new here on epilepsy.com and I recently increased my VImpat to 100 bid (twice a day) and after that, my mood started getting increasingly worse, to the point of seething and I would have to leave the room. I actually bursted into tears today because I couldn't take it anymore and had to break down a little bit,

The moods started with minor things after first starting the med, but I thought "it's just a bad day, it will be better tomorrow". Minor things that shouldn't set me off do, and I am not normally like this. Have any of you had this same problem when taking vimpat oral (lacosamide)

You need to call your neurologist. Generally people are started on lower dosages. I was sent home with a weeks supply 25mg bid and after that I was given a 50mg dosagebid . It took 3-4 weeks before I was on 100 mg bid. Now I have been on 200mg bid and i have had no problems. If your dosage is too hing then that might be why your having problems. Please call and see what your neuro says. I do hope thisw helps Joe

I have been on Vimpat for a week & a 1/2 & I think I am doing good. My mood swings have decreased. I want off of my Phenobarb. I hope this Vimpat will increase my memory & stop all of the other things that have been going on in my body. And to that one young lady who was talking about having a spot on her left temporal lope: if you only have that on your left side, I would advise you to go to Henry Ford Hospital & have a Temporal Resection surgery done. Since you are in the beginning of your seizures, you just might come out CURED! I did not because I have had seizures for years! God be w/ you! Ask for Brien Smith.
