Very shaky hands - Lamictal?

Sat, 06/04/2016 - 11:41
I am on Keppra (2500 a day) and Lamictal (500 a day). My neurologist and I recently upped the Lamictal dosage and, as a result, my hands have become really shaky. Both my left and right hands constantly shake; whether I eat, (or don't) sleep, (or don't) etc. Basically my hands always shake no matter what I'm doing or not doing. I work as a glazier and sometimes my shaky hand makes me mess up my score on the glass, and other things too. Also, I shoot my guns (rifles, pistols, shotguns) a lot. My hand shaking really messes up my accuracy. Kind of embarrassing when I'm shooting with friends and family. Moreover, I've consulted my neurologist, he says it's most likely due to the Lamictal. My neurologist recommended vitamins which are supposed to help but don't seem to be doing anything. I can't really lower either meds which is a problem. This is extremely frustrating and embarrassing. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone have any solution(s)?

Did he tell you which vitamins to take and at what dosages? IF he did and you have been doing like he said you might want ot give it a little time. I had been getting leg cramps and vitamins were to take care of them. It took almost a month and my leg cramps went away and haven't returned. At times before those cramps I would have a shaky hand from time to time bur in the past 8-10 years I haven't had any.I take Caltrate or Citracal.

I have shaky hands. Not violent though, I can still pick things up, carry them, hold them, still pick up a phone and text, I'm able to eat but still shake a little bit where its noticable it doesnt get to crazy where I can barely hold things up. It's my left hand more than my right,  I'm right handed so it's in my weak hand more than my strong hand and I can still write close to perfectly. I been on Lamotrigine (Lamictol) for the past now 9 years, Lamictol for the first 7 years until it went generic (Lamotrigine). It still stops my seizures completely when I take them and I have no seizures but I always had very slight shaky hands where it was barely noticable but now it's more noticable, it's still not crazy bad, I can still do things but it's gotten annoying and comes more often. Knowing that everything is computerized and I need my left hand for typing purposes and other things, i cant type with just my right hand all the time and the slight tremor in my left hand prevents me from typing the way i used to. Thought I was going to have Parkinsons for a minute cuz i was scared.
