From Valporate to Lamictal yet still having Tremors!

Sat, 04/01/2017 - 04:06
Hi. I was diagnosed with absence seizures at 11 years old which turned to Grand Mal Epilepsy when I turned 15. I'm 26 years old now and I've only had 4 grand Mal seizures in the last 10 years. Initially my doctor started me on 500 mg Valporate for absence seizures and up til now I've been taking Valporate. My seizures have been controlled but whenever he'd taper the dose to 250 mg, I'd get a seizure and 4 months back, I had 2 seizures 1.5 hrs apart on the same day! To top it off, I've experienced weight gain, alopecia (patch of hair loss on head which has persisted for 6 years now), menstrual irregularities, hirsutism (excessive hair on face) and tremors. One month back my doctor switched me to Lamictal and he stopped epival after tapering it off. But my tremors have gotten worse even though he reassured me I won't have any tremors. My tremors are so bad that they have disrupted my normal life. I can barely eat or do any work properly because of such severe tremors. Has anyone experienced tremors with these meds or any meds for epilepsy? Can anyone help me how to deal or improve these tremors? I feel so low because I'm unable to do anything even if I try my best which normal people can do easily without trying.

I've been taking Lamictal for over 15yrs and never had a problem with tremors, I am currently taking 600mg. The only problem I have is anxiety and it has been very hard to deal with it.
