Trying an epilepsy medication for a 2nd time...

Sun, 10/05/2014 - 02:45
My first doctor put me on Valproic acid at the highest dose right away and giving me a rash. I have asbence seizures and suggested to my doctor to see if taking Valproic acid again and she is going to put it on very slowly at the lowest dose. How can I not worry? Some people have taken a med for a 2nd try and it has worked so I should try to keep calm, right?

Stay calm. I was put on dilantin and took it 2 times. I had a reaction to it because the dosage was high enough for me to get toxic. I was taken of it for a few weeks and then put back on it at a lower dosage. I had no side effects and it worked for 35 years. I started to have some wierd things happen and had to think why I was losing my equlilibrum. The only thing I came up with was the way dilantim worked when I first took it. I was right and was taken off dilantin since I had gotten toxic on it. 35 years dose equate to a long time and the dilantin  dod have me seizure free for 3 years. I do hope this helps
