Trileptal/Oxcarbazepine and new seizure type?

Tue, 06/30/2015 - 13:21

Hello all,

I have recently started taking oxcarbazepine for complex partial seizures. It seems that for the better my seizures have changed in duration and symptoms. Although, recently I have been experiencing something new. It is what seems to be a seizure waking me from my sleep or occuring in the morning as I wake up. My left arm becomes numb, my fingers tingle, and my hand shakes. It feels like the movement is spreading through my arm. It doesn't last long then my arm becomes weak. A few times it has been so weak that it feels paralyzed. It seems to occur with a particular aura that feels like I am moving when I am not. I tend to have a lot of auras, but they are usually different. I usually get deja vu/jamais vu, nausea, feel hot all over, get tunnel vision, or see flashing lights. In one of my worst seizures I remember my arm shaking. That was when I was having multiple seizures a day and was not on any medication.

Anyways, has anyone had this experience? If so, what did it turn out to be? Is it a type of seizure? Should I be alarmed? Is it possibly the Trileptal/Oxcarbazepine?
