Topamax vs. Carbamezapine & Lamotragine

I'm currently on Carbamezapine and Lamotragine. I was first on Keppra but it made me a raging you know what! That's when we changed to what I'm on now. We discovered that my auras usually come at night, around my cycle so we JUST started adding an additional pill at night during that time. I just went through that the first time and my moods are horrible again!!
I also believe my weight gain is due to the medications. I've gained about 30 pounds since all this started. I asked my neuro about it before and he said no, it wouldn't do that, but I find online that for some people it does. And I recently changed "regular" doctors and when I mentioned it, he said YES it would. That's when he told me about Topamax.
I'm trying to get a hold of my neuro now to talk to him about it. I've heard about the memory loss with Topamax, but I've already had that issue with current meds. Ever since my seizures started 3 years ago. I'm scared to switch though!!
Has anyone here done this type of switch?
