Topamax Dosage Survey!!!

Tue, 06/27/2006 - 17:37
Hello! I'm just curious for anyone who's on this wonderful medication of Topamax what their dosage is and when their neuro has them taken it. Reading some of your posts I already see all various responses. Personally my neuro has me on 150mg of 75 in the morning and 75 at night. (which I know probably seems low to a lot of you)... But I find that I wake up feeling fine in the morning and as soon as I take the meds I'm groggy, tired, and drained all day. I want to call my neuro and ask if I can take more or all at night and less in the morning so I can have a more productive day. For long term use, I would like to be on the lowest dosage possible. I've been seizure free thankfully for almost five months so I know the meds are working, I just wish I could function better so I could return to the working world. Thanks for your responses!!!

I have been on topamax for 3 months now 2 months for 100mg am and pm recently i have had to up the dose and am working up to 200 am and pm.  My body seems to process all drugs at an accellerated rate.. lucky me.  I did not loose very much rate nor did i have much of a mood swing... it did make me a bit happier..people liked that.  It did stop all my seizures till i proccessed it to fast and had to up the dose i hope that does not happen again.

Hi Jay we need to talk !  We are two peas in a pod .  We are taking the same medication however my dosage of the Topamax is very low .  My seizures are idiopathic and I suffer from seudo seizures and epilepsy .   It is very frustrating to say the least that I have been going through this since 2012 and I’m suffering at least three episodes or more a week which are life threatening .  I am also super sensitive to medication and have not found the magic combination and I feel disconnected and my brain feels like mush.   I would like to discuss more in detail what all you have been through since we are taking all of the same medication just the dosage is different and know your history .  I am at the point now where I am wanting to go to Mayo to receive help because I have lost all hope !   In talking with the neurologist that I have seen not only in my home state but in other states that I have traveled unfortunately, I have also had episodes.  They to feel that I need to go to the mayo clinic at this point .  Sorry to hear that you are going through this I don’t wish this on anybody... nobody understands. It is truly devastating and traumatizing to those who are around you  and you’re basically a prisoner in your own body .  I hope to hear from you soon all the best - T

I have been on topamax for almost 5 years.  I think my dosage is very high.  Currently, I am on 250mg in the AM and 300mg in the PM.  I am 30 weeks pregnant.  I had one gran mal at 12 weeks and dislocated my shoulder for the second time.  I had not had a seizure for 2 years before I had that one.
