Titrating from Lamitcal to Vimpat

Sun, 07/05/2015 - 00:55

Hi, I've been taking Lamitcal for a couple years; started with Topamax, that stuff is evil. I've had virtually no side effects with the Lamitcal but as we've increased the dosage all the way up to 600mg, last month; I would still have break through seizures. (Complex partials and simple partials) Had 4 in a row at work the other day. Anyway, my doc and I decided we'd try vimpat, she said it was the same class of drug so may not have any better luck. Everything I've read says it works differently and better (for a lot of people). She said we'd probably titrate the Lamital down as we bring on the Vimpat. Has anyone else done this switch before and if so, is the vimpat working for you?

Thanks for the info. We tried kepra before. I really experienced the mood changes, aka the kepra rage. I don't think we could go back to that again.
