My daughter (8 yo) started taking trileptal(300mg 2x a day) the same week as you. She has had few side effects ( a little tired, but only lasted a few days). I did read that the side effects are pretty mild compared to other aed's and is generally pretty well tolerated. She has seen no real improvment in seizure control.Have you seen any results?

I have been on trileptal for several years now. I am at a very low dose right now, in the midst of getting off of it. One side effect is hyponatremia(low sodium). I have had to deal with this for a while now but only when I was on a high dose. It cause generalized seizures if it gets too low. When way I knew I was getting low, was I would get auras all day. I also got blood work every month to keep an eye on it. I did drink gatorade all day if it got low or some salty foods. But when it was lowered, I didnt have the problem anymore. But the side effects are not many. Very seldom I would get slightly dizzy. But nothing else. I wish I could stay on it, for there was not many side effects but the low sodium was a big issue best of luck Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
