Suicidal thoughts on Topirimate

Mon, 12/05/2016 - 14:54
Topirimate/Suicidal thoughts Topic: Fundraising and Awareness I was put on Topirimate, as I have a neck condition called bilateral cervical stenosis. I was on it for a few months and started losing weight, which was good. What I didn't know was, the drug started changing my personality very slowly. I ended up acting really out of character. I was having really bad thoughts and was often thinking of how I could take my own life!!!! I wish now I had read up on the side effects of this awful drug. I thought I was going crazy. My poor husband found me one morning very close to death. I had taken an overdose of all my meds. I hate myself for putting him through so much pain and grief!!! Anyone who is on this god awful drug, please reach out and talk to someone and don't do what I did, keep it to yourself. It's the drug making you feel depressed and suicidal. This was three years ago and we didn't get any help. I was discharged from hospital and basically forgotten about. Because of this my marriage has been under so much strain, my husband cannot understand why I put him through so much pain. I have only just found this forum and to be honest I feel a wave of relief to know it wasn't all my fault. I wasn't even warned that this drug could give me so out of character side effects!! As soon as I came off this drug I felt like I was me again. I really hope anyone reading this will get the help they needed before it is too late. I am so very lucky to be alive thanks to the man I love and will always feel so guilty and ashamed of what I tried to do!!!
