Sodium level

Sun, 03/05/2017 - 12:58
Hi I just found out my sodium level dropped 6 points in 4 months it is now 128. I am really not sure if that is too low. My doctor told me to take 1 tegretol pill away. Does anyone know what a sodium level would be when it starts to become a health problem?

Hi Cindy. I don't know the answer to your question but... I take 800 mg Carbamazepine daily (aka tegretol) and I have a consistently low sodium level. My doctor says it's still a healthy level but I wonder if the two are connected. Although I don't really eat a lot of salt,  I just thought I was eating well. Consider it a bonus. :) Read this article. It says normal is 135-145. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hyponatremia/basics/causes/con-20031445
