Yo! I've been taking Tegretol for 16 years. My dose now is lower than when I first started on it. I have a minor side-effect where I move slightly slower than I could without it. According to The Pill Book, other side-effects are dizziness, drowsiness, unsteadiness, nausea, and vomiting. Some people may get blurred or double vision, confusion, hostility, headache, and severe water retention. There may be other less common side effects the doctor may be able to tell you about.

I was on it for over 20 some years. It made me a bit dizzy at night. Especially when I was low on sleep. It also made me feel a bit tired and unbalanced. Here is a site that can help. http://www.epilepsy.com/medications/b_tegretol_intro.html take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/epilepsyapproach/

Hi, I've been on a fairly high dose (1600mg) of tegretol/day, since 1985. I to, with the lack of sleep may become some what unsteady/dizzy and most days I could always use a nap. Other than that they do the job well. Good luck.
