PLEASE HELP!

Let me start off by saying how impressed I am by this online community. This is my first time on the website, and I am looking to connect with as many people I can.
I am a 24 year old, who does not have epilepsy.
I am currently taking a course in Graduate school, titled, Drugs and Human Behavior. I am writing a paper that would benifit from this online community. I have been in two relationships with seperate men who have epilepsy. Over the years, I have learned a lot about it, and I wanted to write my paper on the following:
WHY PEOPLE WHO ARE DIAGNOSED WITH EPILEPSY SELF MEDICATE USING MARIJUANA, VERSUS BEING PERSCRIBED MEDICINAL MARIJUANA (OR OTHER MEDICINES) TO REDUCE/ELIMINATE SEIZURES.
I realize this topic will not pertain to everyone. Its specific, yet I know through my ex boyfriends, and through research, this is common. Lets start a dialouge! More then happy to discuss privately through email aswell.
