NyQuil

Sun, 10/09/2016 - 02:07
This is a really weird issue. Okay, so a couple weeks ago I was sick for a day or two for having fevors on and off and I have been taking NyQuil for it. (I still am because my coughs last for weeks on end.) I went to my doctor to see what it was and I asked her if NyQuil and DayQuil have anything to do with my episodes. The people there really weren't sure so they told me to ask my pharmacist. When we arrived, we got there, asked them if it triggers them, and at first they said no but then all of a sudden that changed and they told me yes and that I needed to stop taking it. Now usually I have a complex partial seizure at least once every 3 days - a week depending on the time of month and how much sleep I've been getting. I noticed that ever since I started taking the medication, I really haven't been having any. So basically we ignored them and I have not had an episode for a little more than a week. I find it really interesting because people have been telling me I should not take it with Trileptal because it will make me have more/make them worse. I've been wondering since, is there an ingredient in NyQuil that could help me have less seizures? Was it a coincidence because i was getting at least 15 hours of sleep since I was sick? Thank you for your time.

It should be known that all

It should be known that all your doctors should know all the different medications you take. That includes over the counter medications too.  NyQuil and Dayquil  fit in those medications. Yes they have affected medication before. I took it as needed with no problems. But it also depends on the medications you are taking, There is a medication out and I wanted to take it but my GP would not prescribe it. When I asked him why. " It can cause seizures in seizure prone people " . That's all I needed to know. I have a-fib too and was having issues which my doctors wanted taken care of. I was already taking one medication to maintain the BPM set. but It wasn't where it was a month before. They tripled the dosage and things are set. SO any and all medications need to be looked at yearly to see that they are doing what they were designed to do..I hope this helpsJoe
