Natural Treatments?

So I'm new to all this. I have had less than a dozen nocturnal seizures in the past 2 years, although I have only started seeing a doctor 2 months ago. I was initially prescribed Keppra, 500mg twice a day. I have immediately started feeling muscle weakness, loss of concentration, forgetfulness, sleepiness, mood swings, irritability, it's even messing with my menstrual cycle! But the worst is that only now that I'm on medicine, I'm feeling muscle spasms While Awake. The longer I'm on the medicine, the worse it seems to be getting. Since my seizures only affect me at night, I'm wondering if this medicine is even worth it. I told my doctor all of this and he gave me a new prescription for Lamictal, which I will gradually increase the dosage so my body adjusts...but I've read the side effects for that, and beyond the possible life-threatening rash, I'm worried because "tremors" are a fairly common side effect. Like I said, before medicine I did not have symptoms while awake. So why would I want to take a med that will make me feel worse?? I'm told my seizures are due to stress (I've been through a LOT in the past few years, but I'm now doing everything I can to relax and simplify my life). My question is this: Is anyone familiar with more natural treatments for seizures? I hate medication. My body has always been sensitive to prescriptions, and I would much rather take extra vitamins and alter my diet than to take a pharmaceutical everyday. I do eat healthy, and I exercise regularly already. Is there anything else out there I can do? And also, is anyone aware if seizures can be brought on by a pinched nerve somewhere? I'm wondering if my episodes are even related to epilepsy at all... Thanks in advance for any input and advice!

I agree with just_joe. Changing diet/lifestyle to prevent seizures is a debated topic, that has worked for some but not all. I personally hate my medication too with all of the side effects, and I would also prefer a more natural approach. However I know that the medication is preventing my brain from malfunctioning (seizing).  I use diet and lifestyle changes to try and alleviate my side effects, mostly cognitive issues (brain fog, memory, anxiety, etc). I would experiment with different foods/vitamins and techniques such as meditation or cardio to try and help reduce the side effects of your meds! Good luck!
