MEPHENYTOIN- Has anyone ever heard of it or do they know of it?

Sat, 07/15/2006 - 14:41
I took Mephenytoin (called Mesantoin in U.S) for years) for seizures and was under complete control. The drug company stopped making this wonderful medicine and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they have experienced or know of others experiencing since this medicine no longer exists. I have been on Lamictal, Depakote,Keppra and now am on Topomax which seems to be the best but the others caused rashes, depression, terrible side affects. Hope someone has some input. I am still taking Mephenytoin which is controlling the seizures, but my supply will not last long and it frightens me. Doctors seems to know of "two medicines to try" and then I am out the door looking for another Doctor. They want to find a medicine that I can take and reduce the mephenytoin so I can transfer on to the new meds. It is such a problem. Appreciate any help.
