Medication and Personality changes; whats going on????

Thu, 08/25/2005 - 23:08

Hubby is slowly going up on Lamictal. Alot of you who have read my posts in the past know that he is being weaned off the Dilantin and slowly rising on the Lamictal. The personality changes I have noticed getting more and and more clingy and paramoid. He says odd things like "I see the wya other men look at you..." and "youre not going to leave me are you?" every time we argue. When I walk out the door to run to the store he gets weirded out too. Is this normal for meds to make you "odd" like this?We argue alot more now and his memory has gotten worse even though Doc said the Lamictal would actually help him with this (he has short term memory damage from his car accident and head trauma from 16 yrs ago). I feel "sad" because I feel like I lost the guy I met four yrs ago since he started this seizure disorder and meds a yr and half ago. Things just havent been the same and the stress level, especially on me, has been tramendous. He still isnt allowed to drive and I know thats bothering him as well. I know hes having a tough time and I am too. Not to mention 4 kids and the added stress of everyday struggles. He has changed SO MUCH since all these medications Im not sure if I know the guy I married anymore and it breaks my heart.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced or know of someone who has experienced this.

Im concerned and Im worried to death...but most of all, I feel like we have lost "us" and we are slowly falling apart at the seams...and its killing me.

Thanks for your help.

-Diane
