Does anyone know if going off of anxiety meds (specifically, Lexapro) would trigger increased seizure activity? Thanks

Side effects can occur with stopping the drug, usually changes in mood and behavior. The drug also can increase the likelihood of seizure occurrence. Talk to the doctor prescribing it about what has happened. They will want to make sure no other drug interactions have occurred that also could affect the seizures. The package insert for the lexapro will tell about the seizure risks I believe. The other factor to consider is if anxiety or other mood problems are worse off the drug, does that affect sleep and seizures in anyway? May be a good question to ask the doctor as well. Hope this helps. Epilepsy.com Resource Specialist
