Lesional Epilepsy

Sat, 09/30/2006 - 18:54
Does anyone out there have it? I was diagnosed with it this year after my brain surgery. Is it normal to stay on seize meds after your brain is healed and all. My neuro wants to keep me on for 2-4 years. My surgeon said there shouldn't be a need since I've healed. Any comments would be helpful!

No I dont have a lesion, but I had several brain surgeries. It is always best to stay on the seizure meds for a few years. When you have brain surgery some seizures can occur up to a year or so. But it doesnt mean your seizures are not gone. It takes time for the brain to heal after such a surgery. It is at your best interest to stay on the meds for a few years afterwards. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

Hi Lisa, Thank you for responding. Sometimes it gets confusing when the docs don't agree. I hope my neuro will at least agree to cut my med in half for awhile and see how I do. Take Care, DixieLee

The doctors have said to me, that it is safer to wait a few years before making any changes. You could end up with seizures!! take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
