lamotrigine / Lamictal brain fog

Wed, 03/11/2015 - 17:38
Hi I have been on lamotrigine for 4 months now, im on a low dose of 50mg twice daily and still having alot of complex partials. The problem i have is that my memory and thought isnt what it used to be, ok iv always had a rubbish memory but this is something else. I cant think of words what i want to say which makes me trip over my words and stutter. I for some reason have stopped thinking about what im saying...im just saying it, in lets say a situation where you should be more diplomatic, and use your head a little i am no longer doing it, i cant even make myself. I know what i am doing but cant control it. Im also feeling anxious, and irritable its awful. Im worried that the neurologist will want to up the dose im on as last time i was there he said lamotrigine has the least side effects! Has anyone had lamotrigine and then found that something else had less side effects. Thanks

Lamictal has been a tremendous aid to my irritabillity. I was on 50mg then to 100mg and still a bit irritable. I am now on 300mg and feel much more smooth and stable. My doctor said anything under 150mg will not have much of an effect at all. meditation also helps. i've tried mindfulness but that takes work and now I do transcendental meditation which helps settle my mind and its easy.

HiI'm on 200mg in the morning and 300mg at night for my grand mal seizures. i actually don't have much side effects while using the drug except slight irritability which I have learnt to control as I also practice mindfulness. The only issue I have is that sometimes I get terrible brain fog.Is anyone else here on such a high dose and experiencing the same thing? How do you deal with it?
