Hi Frances. I am on Keppra as a monotherapy. My side effects (including nausea, vivid dreams, tiredness, etc) did wear off. THe first 2 weeks were the worst, and then it kept getting better and better. Probably took about 4-5 weeks altogether, so don't give up. I take 500mg twice a day. Good luck!

Hi Frances,My experience with Keppra was not near as well as Juperee's.I had keppra added to the dilantin that I already take. The side effects of keppra showed up 3 weeks into taking it.My seizures aren't that bad as I had surgery for my epilepsy 24 years ago.But anyway it was pretty bad for me.I had no appetit,I couldn't sleep and I was crying all the time.I didn't wait any longer. As soon as I realized what was causing my problems I went off of it.Almost 4 weeks of being off keppra I am still having problems sleeping. So I researched more and found that keppra can deplete your b6.I was having symptoms and I typed in b6 deficiency and I found 4 symptoms that were like the ones I was having.I have been taking a sleep aid every night as b6 deficiency causes insomnia.I never had a problem before sleeping and now all of a sudden after taking keppra I have a problem.I just started taking b6 and magnesium supplements.I hope it helps me.
