Hello I'm 24 and recently diagnosed with generalized epilepsy. I was afraid to take keppra so I had been trying to take CBD but my neuro said it wouldn't help my form of seziures so unfortunately I am co.ing to terms with the fact I will need to start keppra. They want me to take 500mg twice a day. How long does it take to see side effects? Should I take time off from work while first starting? Comments are much appreciated I feel so lost in all this and defeated

I’m on 750 mg and that’s enough to control my tonic clonic seizures. The side effects of Keppra are much less than others I’ve typed but if you have a history of emotional difficulties it can exacerbate the. Where do you work?

Well Keppra is the best medication I have ever taken to control seizures. As for your thought and wondering about side effects. Do you wonder about the side effects of all the other things or meds you take? Yes everything you take over the counter has side effects. Aspirin has killed a few people.Start taking the keppra and do note anything different each day. Seizure meds are not like aspirin or other meds you take. Seizure meds take time to build the therapeutic levels in your body. IE those side effects generally happen during that time period and are gone after the therapeutic levels are set. That takes about 4 weeks. If the dosage is increased then you have about 2 weeks for the new level to be reached. But then you may never get a side effect. In the 50 years and the 20-25 different medications and couplings of medications I have never gotten a side effect.
