Issues with late medication

Sun, 06/19/2016 - 10:06
I have recently been rather sloppy with the timing of my medication (Vimpat, 150mg)... I should be taking it every 12 hours but there have been times where the time between doses was closer to 16h. I then woke up one morning feeling very "dissociated" with my surroundings. There was just a layer of severe mental fog that I couldn't shake, which ended with me in a flood of tears some hours later due to the anxiety I also felt. I have had these feeling of dissociation before, and they usually last several hours to several day. Could these be dissociative seizures, or could the poor timing of my medication have anything to do with this? I would love to hear people's experience with dissociative seizures, and how long the effects are for you, or if anyone has had any similar experiences!

Thanks for the information Joe! I have a few more questions about dissociative seizures... my "dissociation" seems to last for a good 48 hours at least, is that normal? Also, I seem to have loads of anxiety during times of this dissociation, could that be because of my brain 'misfiring' for lack of a better term?I would love to hear anything more you know on the topic, or if you have had any experience yourself!

Set a medication alarm. Don't

Set a medication alarm. Don't get sloppy with this. I got sloppy once, I take medication at 10am and 10pm and missed the 10am. Went to the hospital after having 6-8 tonic-clonics, true reality check for me.
