How effective Lamotrige can be for JME?

Sun, 06/28/2015 - 20:18

Hello all, I was on Depakote for a long time and worked well on me, no seizures. I recently switched to Lamotrogine because the side effects of Depakote were very bad, I had been in Lamotrogine and clonomazepam for a couple of months, dr added Clonazepam because my jerks came back. However I still have the sensation of having a jerk or seizure but it doesn't happen, I usually jet the jerks when I write or read. I am just very insecure about Lamotrogine controlling my seizures like Depakote, I have herd stories of people being on Lamotrogine and seizures come back after a while. My question is, any one here that are on conbination of Depakote and Lamotrogine, does it work better? Need some help on that!

I went from Depakote to Lamictal.  I am on the highest dose possible of Lamictal and still have break through jerks.  . I'm on Zomisafide (sp?) for break through jerks now, but I have also taken Keppra and Topamax in the past to help with the jerks.  They are all supposedly reccommended as an add on with Lamictal to stop jerks.  For me they haven't but I hold out hope that eventually we will find the miracle combo that will stop/lessen the jerks.  (side note Topamax worked pretty well except I was having some negative side effects).
