Gout (very high uric acid levels) and straining liver on Epilim

Sun, 01/08/2017 - 11:38
Hi All, I have been taking Epilim with a small dose of Lamictal as support since 1996 (20yrs). I have have been suffering with gout and my uric acid levels for about 6 years now. But the last 6 months I have been in such pain and swelling that I have had to use crutches to walk with. I went for bloods and my uric acid levels were 120 over the max and my liver is also taking big strain. I have fixed my diet and am still in pain. Do you think it can be all the years or Epilim catching up with my liver? Is there and alternative for Epilim? or can I wean off the epilim and increase my lamictal (obviously in consultation with Neurologist)? Is Lamitcal stong enough on its own for tonic clonic epileptics (when I started it, it was a brand new drug)? Thanks so much for input. Ryan
