FYCOMPA CONCERNS

Mon, 06/08/2015 - 20:36

DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH FYCOMPA?  MY HUSBAND HAS RECENTLY HAD THAT ADDED TO HIS PRESCRIPTIONS AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SIDE EFFECTS.  IN PARTICULAR, DURING A RECENT HOSPITAL VISIT THE NURSE ASKED IF HE HAD EMPHYSEMA OR COPD BECAUSE THE HEART RATE AND OXYGEN WERE OFF...  I NOTICED IN THE SIDE EFFECTS IRREGULAR HEART RATE IS LISTED... ANY THOUGHTS?

ChristiRelax a little. A person can have a irregular and it not be a side effect from anything.Been there done that. I have taken many medications and yes they all have side effects. If you want things checked out then have him go to his regular doctor and get his heart checked.I was having a physical for the first time in about 20 years and doc teh nurse ran a EKG strip. We then went into another room for other tests, She then ran another EKG strip. Frter going into another room and doing the last tests she ran another EKG strip and told me doc would be in shortly. Doc then came in and ran a EKG strip. He said everything looks great and you should have no problems. Followed by "But if you every go to the Er having a pain in your chest and they run a EKG and they say everything is normal you can go home" "Don't leave and have them call me" You have an irregular heart beat so if it looks fine have them call me.So yes I had an irregular heart beat but it was not due to medications. It took about 15 years and that irregular heart beat is now A-fib with iontermitant A-flutter. I take meds to keep th heart rate at certain levels and have had no problems.Like I posted side effects do happen to about 5-8% of the people taking the medication. You can find posts about this medication or that medication not working and the side effects suck so they get off the medication. Well I can tell you those posts are comming from the 5-8% of the people taking the med.So when reading about them remember that there are 92-95% of the people taking the medication having no problems

Yes! Just came from heart doc and he noticed the irreg heartbeat that I noticed since up to 8 mg. Going to have to wear a halter to check it, but he, as I , feel its the meds ( only because he wanted to know if I wanted to have him call my neuro and let him know that yes, it works at his end, but is causing issues elsewhere)I have a neuro appt anyway after the holter, so we shall see! Good luck and keep fighting the fight ! We know our bodies best !
