Keppra, how effective is it and how severe are the side effects. Recently my girlfriend started taking keppra along with topamax, her mood-swings have become quite severe: deppresssion, pessimism, and agitation. I have tried to explain, and give her examples of the medications effect on her moods, but she only thinks its me and my lack of consideration. I know i am not perfect, but I am trying my hardest to be patient and understanding. If others have had the same expierence, please help. thanks

Hi Jaason, Ok. here is some medical info on Keppra to corroberate your findings: http://www.epilepsy.com/medications/b_keppra_side.html You'll note depression is a more serious side efect: http://www.epilepsy.com/medications/b_keppra_serious.html I'd suggest you also note the effects of Topomax.. http://www.epilepsy.com/medications/b_topamax_side.html However, the 'swinging' part of her moods is not adressed/known as a side effect of either drug. hope that helps ~sol
