Finding the Right Epilepsy Doctor

Tue, 10/28/2014 - 04:34

Fun Fact: I am close to my neurologist and his team at UAB, and they have a study explaining that seizures are happening all of the time on the brain, the only difference is that some people "epileptics" have a lower threshold to preventing the electrical charge, which is what you medications chemical formula is for.
Anyway, their study's thesis is that when a normal person experiences "deja vu" then they are having a very mild seizure. People associate "seizure" with laying on the floor convulsing, which is only a completely un-threasholded electrical nervous system stimulation. A seizure is simply an electrical stimulation.

EEG only address a broad jurisdiction on determining seizure activity and severity. All of mine came back normal but I definitely have seizures constantly (partials) rarely never a grand mal.

Only real determination, is done through grid-mapping which is where they take you off your meds and then shove electrode stimulators directly to your brain for a week, and make you have seizure to locate the source. If they don't see any results, they will even let you go home with the helmet on for the next 2 weeks until they get results haha.

My EEG's were probably poor because of my location. Luckily I live close to a major medical university, WITH REAL DOCTORS.

Note to self: leave your hometown quack neurologist and fly if you have to, to a major university or legitimate hospital and see a real doctor that knows what they are doing.

I ahd brain mapping done at the University of Penn. To see if I could have brain surgery to remove the area that was causing my seizures. Ended up being in my motor function area and could not do anything. Really sucked. I went to see a local doc about my seizures and what an ass. Tole me all my seizures were from stress. Went to Penn and  you could just tell by talking to the doc he was incredible. I would NEVER see a local doc.ever again.
