Double Dose on Lamotrigine

Tue, 05/12/2015 - 19:17

I accidentally double dosed on Lamotrigine this morning, instead of 300 mg, I took 600mg.  Double dosing was a terrible experience, an ambulance had to be called, ended up in the ER, took over 7 hours to get through the system.  I was walking, started to spin, had a seizure fell on the sidewalk and couldn't move.  Could not move my head, arms, legs, only the tip of my fingers.  Luckily someone saw me and called 911. I has post-tictal seizures for about 1 hour after.

Has this happened to anyone else? was I in danger?  I am so good about my medication, it has only happened 4 times in the past 35 years.  I just started using a new pill box and I've been so confused, I will go back to the system I've used for over 15 years now.

My diagnosis, complex partial seizes of the temporal lobe caused by polymicrogyria.  Started when I was 13, I now take 575 mg lamotrigine per day.  300 mg in the am, 275 mg in the pm.

Thanks for helping me out!
