Dizziness and Lemictal 25 mg

Mon, 03/23/2015 - 19:48

I have just started taking Lamictal for epilepsy in my left hemisphere. My neurologist is gradually getting me onto the drug, starting with 25 mg on alternate days for the first week. After only one pill that I took yesterday, I'm feeling very dizzy today. I have only very minor partial seizures, so this feels worse than the actual problem. Will this subside over time? Thanks so much.

WelcomeYou are having some affects that do happen. It takes time for your body to get used to the medication.Side effects do happen. the side effects will go away once your body gets used to the medication. When I first started taking medications I know what you are going thru. Give it time. It takes 2-3 weeks for your body to get used to the medication. Once there teh theraoutic levels can maintain seizure control. If your neurologist raises the dosage then you might have a few days where you have side effects but once your body get used to that dosage you will be fine. As for only very minor partial seizures that can change if you stop meds and just hang out and do nothing to try and control them. If other words just becasue you only have simple partial seizures now does not mean you will not have stronger seizures and they will me more frequent if not taken care of. I hope this helps and you get seizure free... Joe

I've been taking Lamictal and had double vision and dizziness sometimes but I know mine pretty much happened around the time of my menstrual periods due to the estrogen.  Any other times I had this happen was when I was getting my meds altered.
