dilantitin changes with lamictal problems

Sun, 10/15/2006 - 01:06
My neuro had me on dilantin and neurontin for about ten months after a stroke and many seizures. After hospital and recovery all was good and 0 problems. The neuro thought I was doing well enough to pull me off dilantin slowly and then neurontin slowly as well. As I reached the final days of my no drug days, I had a seizure at the library causing me to me out for about several minutes. Went to er and got pumped full of dilantin. neuro decides to put me back on origianal doses and sees me a week later. He decides to switch me to lamictal using the box, small doses leading up to like week 6 at 150mg am/pm and start taking me off dilantin again (normal dose) 300mg am/pm after two weeks and at 100mg dilantin am/pm i have another seizure at home alone but stayed awake barely for first time. Neuro decides to take me off lamictal (which gave me great anxiety and ?feelings of about to have a seizure many times a day. Ativan was prescribed after many body tremor issues and horrible anxiety feelings. Been back on dilantin and feel great and no seizures. Anyone had similar issues to new subsciber to this web site?

Hi Scott, first, we bid you welcome. I'm sure you'll find this a great place for all of us E folks. Sorry to hear your MD has you playing med ping-pong. Sounds as if things aren't broke when you're on Dilantin. Why not ask your doc what they're trying to fix? Hope it gets straightened out soon for your sake. keep smilin'- cc
