Dilantin

Sun, 06/04/2006 - 21:58
When I first found out that I had E I was about 15. They put me on dilantin and now that I'm 25yrs old I am paying for it. It caused me to have probs with my teeth and now I'm going to have to have all my teeth pulled. I never thought this would happen to me because I have been the type of person who brushed my teeth as much as I could and made sure to floss. My teeth are so weak that they are just breaking off. The doc told me there is no use in fixing them because when he would go to drill them they would most likely shatter. This scares me. He told me because I was on it when I was prego with my two older boys that it could happen to them too. So, now I know why they are having such a hard time with their teeth too. I never thought something that would help me would hurt me at the same time. If I would have known I wouldn't have stayed on it. I go the 12th to talk to the doc about when he is going to pull my teeth. He's going to do them all at once. Just get it done and over with. They are thinking about putting me in the hospital to do it because of my E. They still aren't sure yet. I'm just scared. Thank you for taking the time to read and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Sammi

Sammi, I'm so sorry that you will have to go through this. I remember having trouble with my gums when I was on Dilantin. I remember whenever I brushed they bled like crazy and were sore afterwards. But, I kept at it. Never had cavities until after I had kids. PTL! I've had my wisdom teeth pulled and therefore remember the pain. I'll be thinking about you on the 12th. Keri
