Depakote HELP!

Sun, 05/10/2015 - 01:00

I just got put on depakote a few months ago. My doctor said that it is possible for weight gain to occur but I have always been thin with a very fast metabolism and was just starting track which made me stronger and thinner. All through the season I gained weight and have gained ten pounds in two months, which is a lot for my body.

I have never been self conscious about my body but now I definitely am. Last night, I even had a dream about being worried about people seeing my body.

Does anyone know how I could counteract this side effect? How do I manage the weight gain?

I took depakote for a short time and the weight gain is from the medication. It makes your body retain water Your 10 lb weight gain was little compared to the weight I gained. Once taken off the medication I lost most of the weight.
