Depacote?

Fri, 12/12/2014 - 13:59

Hi all,

I was hoping to get a little bit of advice on medications. I have been on lamictal for almost a year now and have been decently successful with it. I however, have started in the last month or so coming very close to having petite mal seizures on quite the regular basis. Yesterday at work I came in and apparently was talking to a co-worker but have no recollection of it. There is about an hour of time that I can't remember all the details of anything that happened. My doctor wants to add depicote to the mix but from everything I have read, people don't seem pleased with it. The side effects seem to outweigh the positives of the medication. I am very concerned about starting something with side effects that bad because I just got a promotion at work and spend quite a lot of time there and they are not to keen on the seizures. So I don't want to have them at work and I also don't want to have bad side effects, like memory loss, that affect my performance at work. So I guess what I want to know is what do people think about depacote and would you recommend it? I also would like to know if you wouldn't recommend it, what would you recommend in it's place. I have my MMP card and have had very good luck with MM as long as the strain is high CBD. So please any thoughts would help!

OK I read your post and can reply  The seizure you had could be a simple partial or even an abdsence seizure. With some people they last a few minutes but after comming out of then the delay is longer. You posted your doctor wants to add depacote to the mix as you posted. Which is fine. I have taken many different medications and at times 2-3 different one to control my seizures.but from everything I have read, people don't seem pleased with it. The side effects seem to outweigh the positives of the medication.Read the side effects on most medications and I do mean any medications and in them you will see memory loss..As for depacote>>> I used it back in the 1980's. It worked and reduced the number of seizures I had. I also got off it not because of a side effect but because ny neurologist and I  discussed trying a different medication.  Recommending depacote?? I have told associates about it any  of the medicatins I have used and know they worked. I highly recommend Keppra also because I know how it has worked and helped me Like all the other medications I have taken and I have taken a lot of medications in the 50+ years I have lived and dealt with epilepsy. I hope this helps Joe
