Control by self adjustment

Fri, 01/20/2006 - 23:07
At the age of 7(over 40 years ago) I was diagnosed with epilepsy. At that time epilepsy was in the same category as Leprosy, "unknown". For reasons unknown to me at the time, I was locked up in a State Hospital for 3 years. I had Grand mal seizures (only while sleeping) but as I became older my seizure became more violent. After being tested with most every type of seizure controlling drug imaginable, I was put on (4) 100mg Dilantin,(2) 60mg Phenobarbital and (2) 250mg Mysoline each day. Some control seem to take place but didnt last long so I added 2 more 100mg Dilantin to the 4 I had already been taking. My seizure came under control. I told my doctor and had blood tests taken. The results of the blood test came back as "Toxic". I told my doctor that if that`s what it takes to control my seizures that`s what I`m taking. To make a long story short. After almost 10 years of taking this toxic dose I was tired of walking around like I was drunk (I don`t drink)and looking and sounding like I was loaded, I started to adjust my medication down. Now at the age of 51 I`m taking 5 100mg Dilantin a day and my seizures are still completely under control.
