Confused about my EEG?

Tue, 09/23/2014 - 17:41

Okay, lately in my opinion it seems like I have been having more seizures and I had a sleep deprived EEG last Monday yet I did not have one seizure during the whole hour and there was no problems and no new seizure types. I have never had a clear EEG before out of the 3 I have had, I am going to be introduced to Valproic acid again at a slow rate; the doctor does not think I am allergic to my medication...could this all be in my mind? The other seizures...

You do not need to have a seizure during the EEG for the neurologist to see seizure activity (abnormalities). I had 25-30 EEG's all come back normal before falling asleep in one which showed seizure activity. Your EEG's can come back normal. I have had several come back without seizure activity and they were all done by the same person. Understand seizure activity is found in the brain waves and you do not need to be having a seizure for that activity to be seen. As for your seizures they can be happening and yo ucould know it. I know when I am having a seizure and which kind of seizure it is. When Doc was checking to see if there were other procedures that could stop all my seizures I was in a monitering unit and I informed the people when I had the seizure and they marked the tape. I informed them of all the seizures I had and doc knew why the time difference was there. Focus time was the delay but they were all there. So yes it may not be your thinking but you can feel them. In my focal seizures my right hand may feel wierd or I can't move my fingers. So yes I know when I am having them My partial or simple partial seizures give me a different feeling in my brain or head and that tells me I am having one.
