Clobazam and Lamotrigine anyone?

Wed, 07/29/2015 - 12:17

Hi there

My partner was diagnosed with epilepsy in February last year and has been on Lamotrigine since being diagnosed. He was on the maximum dose as he's seizures never stopped and had another unexplained seizure this week, as a result they have decided Lamotrigine alone isnt controlling his seizures and have today given him a prescription to start taking Clobazam (box says Clobazam Auden) alongside the Lamotrigine

I just wanted to know if anyone has experience taking Clobazam? if so did it work for you? also is anyone taking it alongside Lamotrigine? and if so are the two together effective?

really hoping this will be enough now to control he's seizures or at least slow them down as he's having them every month, 2/3 at a time

Thanks

Trudie

I finally found out why I was

I finally found out why I was having seizures ( grey matter heterotopia in the back left part of my brain.. mainly in the occipital lobe) 5 years ago and they put me on a low dose of Lamotrigine.Kept having them a couple times a year and they would just up the dose. A year or two ago they added dilantin( on top of 200mg of lamotrigine twice a day), but after I had a seizure they discovered the Dilantin was somehow lowering the level of lamotrigine in my blood,  so they put me on Keppra after my last seizure in Marrch of last year. It was starting to give me suicidal thoughts, so now I take 250mg of lamotrigine twice a day and 20mg of clobazam at night.  I have 1mg sublingual ativan for when I notice an aura ( right half of my right eye goes blind and colours flash.. misfiring in the occipital lobe)  but haven't needed to use it.
