Can medication one day just stop working?

Thu, 09/18/2014 - 19:00

I have taken clobazam and lamotrigine for years and they worked (I would only have one ore two seizures) I started to take Zarontin and now all my seizures are messed up. I went 5 days without seizures then bang they came back and got more violent, nothing like grand mal at all; I have been off Zarontin now for 4 weeks and can I still have it in my body? I was taking the lowest dose too (250 mg) :/ before Zarontin, this never happened. How long can this medication stay in the body?

Depending on the medicatio and how long yo uhad taken it. If you took it for about a year it can take about 30 days for all of it to get out of your system. If you were taking 2 meds and were coming off them and going to 1 med the doasges are low so if not taking the 2 and only taking the small dosage your dosage needs to be increased. It does take time to get dosages set and time to be weaned off medications and onto another. Call your neurologist and discuss this natter with him. A issue like this can and has been handled over the phone and new dosages can be set and if needed a prescription can be sent to your pharmacy
