Has anyone tried the new drug called Brivlera, a cousin to Keppra? There is very little information regarding side effects of this new drug.

newly released by UBC Pharma in Canada. It has fewer side effects then Keppra and works much like keppra. Tests have been done to compare the 2 medications.https://www.uniprix.com/en/drug-lexicon/7232/brivleraThat page has some of the side effects that it has.The reason you see fewer side effects is because they have been creating newer medications with fewer side effects. If you want more information your neurologist may have the information you are looking for. My neurologist had it on all the different medications I have been on.I hope this helpsJoe

I started Briviact today, 5/2

I started Briviact today, 5/2/18.  Too soon to tell how it will work, but I surely hope it doesn't cause weight gain like Lyrica did.  I'm on Depakote and have a VNS.  I still need to lose Lyrica weight and hope this helps.  How long before you felt Briviact effects?

On it now. Have failed every

On it now. Have failed every other drug available to my for partial complex seizures. Tried meds for over 30 years now and Epival was only one that really worked though weight gain every time and was starting to show more side effects. Switched to 50mg 2x/day Brivlera...was tired at first, dizzy first few days (Keppra was bad for me), fatigue by end of day. But after a week was much better. I'm more alert now, not depressed, seizures controlled and I sleep way better than before. Been off Epival and on Brivlera alone for almost a month now. Expensive yes, insurance luckily covers a good portion. Easy to take though tablets do have bitter taste.
