Another question--vision issues.

I'm still on the Depakote & Lamictal. I was wondering if any of you have vision problems. I can see fine, but my eyes sort of..hurt, I guess. Like sometimes it's hard to look up--like there's this pressure. It's not all the time--comes and goes but it's really frustrating.

George - NYC Get Used to Vision Problems. Having been on anti-seizure medications for nearly 30 years, I can say with conviction that they definitely do make for challenges with our eyes. On no two days can we expect those gorgeous two sight instruments of ours to see the same way. I used to assume it was just I who found that even within one day the quality and "quantity" of my vision could change. Do not forget, our vision depends a lot on our brain to keep it in place, and when we've got man-made medicine within our bodies, things can go off kilter without warning. On some days, I need glasses just to find my contact lenses. On other days, I'm right in focus, dawn till dusk. Big problems were there when I was on Dilantin and Tegretol. And some challenges still exist now that I am taking Keppra and Depakote ER. However, if you get your pharmacist to print out a descriptive page concerning your drugs, you'll see that vision changes (temporary and/or permanent) are not unusual. And, as you said, I find that "...my eyes sort of hurt." Then there are headaches. But isn't this better than experiencing seizures as often or intense as we would without the pills? Definitely!

See, when I look up--like lift my head up to see straight, it just hurts. Just bad aches. And I'm really dizzy--like bumping into stuff, staggering. I don't know what it is, and I know it's better than having seizures. It might not even be medication or epilepsy related. But I just don't know what to do.
