acne

I have been on lamictal and a combo of other drugs since 2012.  When I combined lamictal and depakote i got acne pretty bad.  I got off depakote about 6 months ago and now I am just on lamictal.  However, the acne has continued.  I wash my face often and use prescribed clindamysin twice a day but it still persists.  I am 36 and didn't have much trouble with acne before this.  Have others had this problem?

This could simply be a hormonal deficiency/abundance . You may suggest to your doctor to check your hormone levels.

Yes. I have never had acne in my life! ...until I started Lamictal. It has nothing to do with hormonal changes with me. I've checked... there are no hormonal changes, otherwise, it would vary during your period. Don't just see your dermatologist. You need to see your epileptologist because he/she will be more knowledgable about the medication that is actually causing that side effect. It isn't a problem with your skin, it is a side effect of your epilepsy med. So see your epileptologist.

I think the Lamictal could be causing my acne too. My family around me is telling me that I am eating too much fruit and that is why it is happening. Everyone around me has different ideas and I saw a dermatologist. She gave me stuff that didn't make it go away. So.....I don't know where it is coming from but, it coud be my medication .
