Sun, 11/09/2014 - 03:58
My baby girl was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy on 11/1/2014 She was given and prescribed 1.5 mls of Keppra that evening but it hasn't done much.. Tuesday, 11/4/2014, it was increased to 2.5 mls because she was having 2-3 seizures a day each lasting 3-5 mins. My baby is still having seizures, the Keppra isn't working.. has anyone else experienced thjs problem themselves or with their child? It's been a week already, how much longer until Keppra takes effect?

Cindymedications for epilepsy

Cindymedications for epilepsy do not work like a asperin. It takes time for the body to get used to it and time to get the dosage level where it needs to be to control her seizures. Keppra is the best medication I have ever used to control my seizures. I have fewer seizures now compared to the ones I was having before using keppra. Also the time in the seizure and time to get back to normal is seconds rather then the minutes it used to take. Before keppra my seizures would be 3-8 minutes long and the time to focus (get back to normal) was  15-45 minutes. With Keppra or the generic keppra the seizure is 5-8 seconds and focus time is about the same. I could have one while talking to you and you would know nnothing about the seizure.  I know it is hard on you but I also know it takes time to get levels on medications set up in a persons body. For me it took a few days but I also had medication levels already there. We switched me from one medication to keppra. Both medications works to stop seizures so I had seizure medications in me. Give it a little more time. Also talk to her neurologist abd discuss the times she needs to take them.
