Why do I have more seizures in the morning than at night? (Petit mal).

Sat, 08/06/2011 - 17:12

I am curious about this, why do I have more seizures in the MORNING than at night. I wake up sometimes and have none but other times a good few. And this drives me freakin nuts. It's mostly right after I wake up say about 10-15 minute range when I'm getting dressed or just coming downstairs. But at night, I have no seizures what so ever. And I'm 15 and going to be 16 in Feburary and want to learn how to drive, I have an EEG on the 23rd of August and I hope then to get things cleared up so in a year or so when I'm going into grade 11 I can drive.

MEDICATION AT MOMENT:

Clobazim-seizures not totally gone.

Medication before Clobazim-

Vlaproic Acid-seizures went away but had side effects (go figure).

Just please answer the main question: why more in the morning than at night?

My epilepsy was like this

My epilepsy was like this but it's controlled now. It started when I was about 14 - so roughly the same age. These are juvenile myoclonic episodes which almost always occur in the early morning at the time you described. This is just a feature of the type of epilepsy. That's all they told me - hope it helps (sorry if it doesn't)

I think this is the best answer to your question, so far.

All I can tell you is, mine have typically been in the evening, 6-11PM. While trying to change meds, they were more sporatic (and more often, unfortunately).

I have spent at least one year of my adult life not being able to drive. Yes, it stinks, but it is not the end of the world.

I have simple partial seizures, mine are usually bout mid day but i can get them anytime. im pretty sure it just has 2 do with the activity in your brain in the morning your nuerotransmitters prolly are firing off faster. as for the driving i had no problem getting my liscense back i am 23, 22 wen i had my 1st grand mal, but if yours are more severe then mine driving can be very dangerous 4 u driving a car is driving a weapon. talking 2 your doc about getting your liscense would probably be a good idea
