Seizure Response Dogs?

Tue, 04/05/2016 - 15:55
Hi everyone, My name is Laura and I'm 15 years old. I was diagnosed with epilepsy last December. I am not American and in my country, epilepsy awareness is quite terrible, to be honest. I heard that having seizure response dogs is fairly common in the States, but there isn't much information about that kind of thing around here and the articles that I managed to find were very controversial. I've always loved travelling and I wanted to "see the world for myself" when I grew up, wanted to attend university abroad but now it seems that I won't have a chance for that. But I digress. I just wanted to ask: does it help to have a seizure dog? Does it make you a bit more confident, more independent? I'd like to hear your stories, your experiences. In my country, training these kinds of dogs is very expensive and rare (and my parents aren't very fond of the idea but after all it's my life). Thank you in advance for your answer, Laura P.S. As I mentioned above, I'm not a native speaker (I'm Hungarian, actually), so there may be (almost surely are) some mistakes, sorry for them.
