Parents Dealing With My Epilepsy

Thu, 12/08/2016 - 22:43
I'm 14 years old and I came to this website because my parents don't like to talk about my epileptic seizures and so I asked one of my workout coaches, who's also a physical therapist, to help me out, and she recommended this. And it's pretty cool. I've been wondering a lot about the origins of my seizures, with the result that I usually end up extremely frustrated. No one in my family has a family history of epilepsy, and somehow I had seizures when I was three and four, they stopped for four awesome years, and when I was eight they started up again and haven't stopped since. (Well, I mean, obviously they've stopped, but I have seizures daily.) No one really seems to understand what I'm going through and I really wish they would. My parents don't seem to get my situation - my mom always starts crying and says she prays for me every night, my grandma does the same thing, and my dad just doesn't talk about it. Sometimes I think that when my parents look at me, all they see is a girl with epilepsy. Not me. If anyone else can relate, that would be nice, just to talk about it. Thanks.
