Oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) side effect question
Fri, 10/02/2015 - 21:50Hello! I'm new to all of this. My son is 2 and we just recently found that he is having seizures due to a cavernous malformation in his brain. He was on Keppra but his seizures were only increasing so he was switched to Oxcarbazepine last Wednesday (the 23rd). We upped his dosage this Wednesday. Tuesday night he ran a fever of 103 all night and Wednesday he ran a fever of 102. Today he had a fever of 101.5. At bath time, I noticed a rash on him. We all have colds right now but he is the only one having fever/rash. I called the neurologist and was told that he must have a virus, that it couldn't be related to the medication. I read the pamphlet and noticed it was listed as a sign of a serious side effect. I'm very worried. Does anyone have any knowledge of have experienced this?
