My experience with auras

Thu, 05/25/2017 - 17:30
Hi, I am a 19 year old who got diagnosed with epilepsy roughly a year ago. I had my first full seizure when I was 13 years old, the second and the third happened when I was 18 and 19, about 5 months apart from each other. I was prescribed with medication, but I didn't take the medication regularly, I was being an irresponsible teen. I stopped taking the meds after some time. However, even though I haven't been on the medication for a relatively long time, I haven't had a full seizure in almost a year. What I do experience, on the other hand, are auras, or rather what I perceive to be them. The only thing I really feel during an "aura" is lightheadedness. What bothers me is that I have those experiences almost every single day, pretty much every time I go outside, or to a public place. The auras are very light and they don't evolve to a seizure, or even a partial one with more symptoms. I think this is very strange as it almost seems to me that my thoughts stimulate the auras. Before going outside I get nervous that something might happen to me. It's not even a gut feeling, but something that I consciously think about. I know that I should probably consult a doctor, but I feel like this is all in my head. Thank you for your help. P.S. I would experience the lightheadedness even when I was on the medication.
