my 3yr old has partial complex seizures

Mon, 08/09/2010 - 18:09
My 3yr old has been having seizures since she was 7months old. She wasnt diagnosed with epilepsy until about 2yrs ago. She was 1st on tegretol which i found to be a useless medicine that made my daughter have dizzy spells, she would lose her balance trying to walk and it made her extremly sleepy. She now takes trileptal and it seems to be working. Shes had seizures since shes been on the meds but the actually seizure has been milder and hasnt lasted as long. My problem is that since shes only 3 she cant tell me if she feels the seizure coming on, or how she really feels afterwards. She cant even tell me if she remembers anything. sometimes she remembers the ride to the hospital but that seems to be about it. I am looking for anyone that can tell me a little about how she feels or even what to expect. I am a mother of two, and Even though I am not new to the seziures I feel like a lost parent. Any advice is welcome. This  is the 1st site i have found that lets me talk with others instead of just reading articles.

I have a 3 year old son that has seizures. He is on depakote. He is a talker. So I ask him about 3 minute after the seizure how he is and what he feels like and he kind of lets me know. But my husband and I have noticed signs.  Like when he feels a seizure coming on he will look at us like asking for help. But can't ask in time. He says it is scarey. When he gets done with a absence seizure he cries and wants us to hold him. He knows what a seizure is and has no problem telling everyone if he has one. After he had his first two grand-mals he went up to our friend and told him "I have seizures". I am sure he remembers them. Just encourage her to talk about them.
